SUNSHINE CLUB
What do you do after graduation? You walk on Sunshine,
of course! The Sunshine Club is here to help bridge the gap for adults with Intellectual and developmental disabilities
by offering not only recreational experiences but life skills and volunteer opportunities. We learn how to be productive members of the community while exploring and learning
new things with a bit of fun thrown in the mix. All incoming participants need an assessment and registration can be done by Recreation staff.

Monday-Friday / 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Ages: 18+ with intellectual or developmental disabilities / $90 per week
SUNSHINE INTERACTIVE GROUP
Are you looking for an opportunity to have fun and gather with friends during the day? Do you like trying new activities as well as revisiting those we all love? Come have fun with the Sunshine Interactive Group for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Monday-Friday / 10 a.m.-noon

 Opportunities listed below are for ages 55+ and no fees are associated unless otherwise noted. Please see the table of contents for more information if special accommodations are needed.
The BREC Adult Leisure genre includes recreation facilities, events and programs across East Baton Rouge Parish offering a variety of recreational opportunities for adults ages 55 and up. These opportunities vary and can include arts and crafts, health and wellness and seasonal pop-up events.

Programs
BUSY BODIES
Busy bodies are a program where seniors enjoy doing exercise with an instructor while using chairs, weights, strength bands, and balancing bars. This program addresses some of the major wellness components needed for optimal health. These areas include strength, flexibility, balance, cognition and nutrition.
INDEPENDENCE COMMUNITY PARK
Monday + Wednesday + Friday / 8:30-9:30 a.m.
CLASSIC CERAMICS OPEN STUDIO
Spark your interest in ceramics. Participants bring their own supplies: paint/brushes/pieces or can purchase a piece from
our selection. Seasoned participants provide insight on the techniques involved in the painting and glazing of ceramics. The focus of this class is not the forming of the ceramic piece but administering the paint and glaze to preformed ceramic pieces.
SHARP ROAD PARK
Tuesday + Thursday / 9-11 a.m.
COMMIT TO BE FIT AEROBICS CLASS
Are you ready to get out of the house and have some fun? Come and enjoy a low impact aerobics class with us! Commit to Be Fit works your entire body utilizing great music and purposeful moves that helps you to get in the groove, in and out of class.
ALSEN PARK + WEBB PARK SENIOR CENTER
Wednesdays / 10-11 a.m.
SHARP ROAD
Wednesdays + Fridays / 10-11:30 a.m.
FOREVER YOUNG EXERCISE
This class emphasizes low impact low move for cardiovascular conditioning as well as muscular endurance and overall toning.

LOYAL TO THE SOIL GARDENING CLUB
Do you have a green thumb? Are you interested in learning more about gardening? Either way, the Loyal to the Soil Gardening program is for you! This program extends the opportunity to contribute your time and expertise to grow nutritious foods, socialize with others and pass on cross- generational knowledge to younger community members.
