SWAMP FLASHLIGHT NIGHT
We welcome you to enjoy the Swamp at night by visiting us during our Swamp Flashlight Night! Staff will be facilitating live animal encounters throughout the event. Enjoy a leisurely night hike with your family and friends. The swamp trails can be really dark at night – so don’t forget to bring a flashlight. If you don’t have one, check out our gift shop for some options. Close-toed shoes and insect repellant are recommended. Please note that admission to the trails ends at 8:15 p.m.

HOWELL FLOWER FEST VOLUNTEER PROJECT
Our largest native plant pollinator garden needs some basic maintenance like weeding, adding mulch and adding some additional species. Come out and learn some basics about native plants while helping us maintain this unique parish resource. All supplies provided.

DOG DAY AT THE SWAMP
With our Dog Days, BSNC drops its “No Pets” policy and opens its doors and trails to pets 4 days out of the year! All pets are welcome, but they must be on a leash and have their vaccinations current.

FREE THE FOREST! VOLUNTEER PROJECT
Help us free Forest Community Park of an invasive species! We need your help to make a dent in the plant ardisia crenata or Christmas berry, that is taking over the forest floor. We
will be pulling the plant by hand to see how much we can
get rid of in one day. This volunteer effort will be followed by professional treatments. All supplies provided.

BREC GREEN FORCE VOLUNTEER TRAINING
BREC is looking to train a dedicated force of volunteers in resource management, education and programming. Learn how to help keep our habitats clean and healthy and earn rewards doing it. Only 20 volunteer hours a year commitment! Whether you want to learn more about invasive species removal, trail clearing or how to be a program or event aid, this training is for you! The training counts towards your total hours for the year. Lunch provided.

Did you know that every summer the Earth plows through a trail of cometary debris? HRPO will host a viewing session during the nighttime period, so patrons can experience the best chance to see high meteor rates that will shower the earth.

WONDERS OF WILDLIFE NEW!
Join us at Bluebonnet Swamp as we explore the wonders of our urban wildlife and learn how we can all get along. Did you find a baby bird or injured animal? Worried about the snakes in your backyard and how to keep raccoons out of your garbage can? Need some tips on how your pets and the wildlife in your backyard can coexist? Find out the answers to these questions and more! We will have educational presentations, games, live animals, trail activities, crafts and more so come on out for a great time at the Swamp!
