FIRST FREE SUNDAYS
Free guided tours will be offered on the first Sunday of each month. Special programs of traditional crafts, informative lectures, and family activities are planned for “First Free Sunday.”

HOMAGE TO A HERO: JANE GOODALL
Jane Goodall is a British primatologist who is famous for
her 45-year study of wild chimpanzees. She has also done extensive conservation work for her beloved chimps and their environment. Let’s celebrate the important, thrilling, lifelong work of Ms. Goodall by painting a chimp in their natural habitat on canvas!

SWAMP ART SHOW FIELD DAYS
Those interested in working on entry pieces for the upcoming Swamp Art Show Series can visit the swamp on this day for inspiration (FOR FREE!). Whether your gear includes canvases or cameras, come out and enjoy this paint-out and field-shoot day. Bring your own supplies – we’ll provide workspace indoors and out for you to create your masterpieces!

Looking to express yourself through some nature-themed crafts while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Swamp? Join us quarterly as we host Craft Corner and provide a variety of fun and interactive crafts for you to complete with us or take home to work on at your leisure. This program is included with your general admission.

Youth Art Programs
SATURDAY MORNING STUDIO
Saturday Morning Studio is TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD! Each month BREC Art will “travel” to different countries to experience history, art, (and snacks!) from different cultures. Join us each month for tips, treats, and creative expression as we pack our art bags and see the world!

Sept. 10: Mona Lisa Cat - In this session, the very little- known French portrait of the Mona Lisa Cat will be recreated with chalk and pastels. This “visit” to France will introduce students to the mysterious Mona Lisa painting, a stop at the Eiffel Tower and Macarons.
Nov. 12: Mother’s Helper - Students will travel to Mexico City, Mexico where they will meet Diego Rivera. Bright colors, Hispanic culture and nachos will all be part of the fun as we recreate his famous Mother’s Helper using mixed media.
Dec. 3: Gingerbread House - The German tradition of building gingerbread houses is still part of holiday traditions worldwide. After learning the origin of the gingerbread house and seeing different houses from around the world, we will build our own edible Gingerbread masterpiece!
